I.O.R. (Romanian Optics Industry), is one of the largest and oldest factories in Europe, initially specialized in producing elite military opto-mechanical devices since 1936, products tested with great success even during W.W.II. Kept under the darkest shadow, as one of Romania's biggest secrets by the former dictator Nicolae Ceausescu, I.O.R. has developed and produced a few line of optics, rated as some of the finest in the world. During the "Cold War" years the I.O.R. products were successfully used by the Warsaw Pact Army and Navy elite troops, along with other similar products from Carl Zeiss Jena Germany.

Today, I.O.R. - as the last original optical factory of Eastern Europe - to continue their legendary existence, remains a serious and reliable supplier of optical components and assemblies for other famous European companies like: Leica, Schnider, Hensoldt, Pentacon, Fog-Gorlitz, Carl Zeiss GMBH, at the same time continuing their long time collaboration with Jaener GlassWerk GMBH from Jena - Germany.

Since 1989 when the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain tumbled to the ground, all Warsaw Pact military items became precious collectibles, besides being exceptional quality products and now, that the Warsaw Pact does not exist anymore, we are finally able to bring this exceptional line of products to the European Market.

IOR optics offers the most complete line of Tactical Precision scopes on the market. 1995 we pioneered the first variable power tactical scope with a first focal plane Mil reticule and 1/10 Mil adjustments, when we introduced our 30mm tube model 2,5-10x42 MP-8 reticule. 2003 we were the first in the world to introduce a 6x zoom tactical rifle scope 2-12x32, 35 mm tube and MP 8 illuminated reticule 2004 we were the first to introduce a 6x zoom tactical scope with the widest magnification range in the world: 3-18x42, 35 mm tube and MP 8 illuminated reticule 2004 we were the first to introduce the most compact close range tactical scope in the world (9,15 inch) with the widest magnification range in the world: 1,5-8x26, 35 mm tube and (BDC) Bullet Drop Compensated CQB illuminated reticule 2006 we were the first to introduce a 6x zoom tactical scope with a first focal plane Mil reticule, 1/10 Mil adjustments and widest magnification range in the world: 3-18x42 FFP. All our 3-18x42 scopes are also the most compact 18x in the world (13,25 inch). 2007 we were the first to introduce the MX-7 scope with 7x zoom and 40 mm tube and the widest magnification range in the world: 4-28x56 MX-7, 40 mm tube and MP 8 reticule illuminated.
